An afternoon at the Luxembourg

September 23rd, 2007

Photos of Paris - Spirit of Paris

Some sunday afternoon, in the late summer, a band come to play in the kiosque (a shelter) of the Jardin du Luxembourg.
This one, AFREUBO, has a sixty wind instruments players with a effective conductor. During an hour you can forget the modern style of life to get back to the 19th century.

This scene doesn’t remind you some work by Auguste Renoir ?

Yes, it does look like a painting: a Renoir subject, a crowd on a Sunday, but with more defined lines, maybe like Caillebotte.

Yes. I immediately thought of Renoir on the very first glance at this photo. Luxembourg Gardens looks better than ever now that Fall has arrived.

It is really a very restful and pleasant place, right next to the Medici fountain. I have often been there on Sunday afternoons. Posting photos from the Luxembourg Garden is a nice idea, maybe also for my own Paris real estate blog
