On the right bank, just behind the Hôtel de ville, Saint Gervais’s church comes to light between the surrounding medieval buildings. |

It’s a beautiful photo and with the medieval buildings, It looks like you’re in some other small town in Europe.

Bonjour Michel,
I think you were standing on ile St. Louis when you took this photo. I love the walk behind St. Gervais on rue des Barres, from rue de l’Hotel de Ville. The walk has a very old feel, like I should be carrying water from a well or fish from the river.
I hope to see you in April.
A bientot

Like Jeff, Louis la Vache likes rue des Barres behind Saint-Gervais. On Sunday mornings, it is a pleasure to hear that orgue! The many medieval buildings nearby do indeed give the area a special feel. Nearby, on rue François Miron are the last two remaining half-timbered houses in Paris. If Louis la Vache remembers correctly, they date from the 1400s.

Louis la Vache believes Jeff is correct that you must have taken this photo from Île-Saint-Louis. So that leaves the question: how did you manage to get the photo with an ice cream cone from Berthillion in one hand and the camera in the other? Inquiring minds want to know….

Michel: Let me know how to contact you when I get to Paris. I am looking forward to a walk through the Latin Quarter.

I love the design of the building.
