Sunset behind the Grand Palais

This is a show we wouldn’t be able to see before. The glass roof of the Grand Palais was changed last year and now we can see through. During this extensive restauration, the original color of the paint was found behind a plate bearing the name of the builder. It is the same pale green you can see today. Don’t you think it looks like a Jules Verne’s flagship waiting to take off to some mysterious places. Now the Grand Palais is mainly used for painting exhibits or special events. If you have the opportunity to get in, don’t miss it. Look up and you will see, it’s a kind of magic, especially at sunset. |

Perfect light behind the building in the top image. And as I have not seen inside, the bottom shot is really interesting.

your photoblog is fantastic!!! I’ve been in Paris in April on a trip with my schoolclass and it was wonderful… Paris has found a special place in my heart.
I’d love to leave the address of my own blog, but it is all in italian, so… however I’ll write, though there are very few photos and maybe you’ll find it very little interesting.

I almost fainted when I saw in person the work they’ve done to the Grand Palais (and to the Petit Palais!) .
When I was growing up in Paris, the entire building was black - as were most of the other buildings of Paris at the time.
That glass roof is just magnificent! I can’t get enough of it…
Last but not least, you really do know how to take a picture of a staircase!
