The stairs of the pyramide of the Louvre
June 4th, 2006
The “Grand Louvre” project started in 1981 to facilitate and to enhance the access to the museum. The extension and modernization of the Louvre were entrusted to the Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei. The main construction is a pyramid, built in the middle of the “Cour Napoleon”, and designed as the main entrance.
To access the differents collections, you can walk down a magnificent staircase, made of a single piece and revolving on a turn an a half. In the middle of the spiral, an elevator can be used by disabled people to enter the museum.
